Ivan Semedi

Ivan Semedi ( born June 26, 1921 in Welyka Kopanja, Ukraine; † 6 December 2008) was bishop of the Eparchy of Mukachevo of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine.

Life

Ivan Semedi received on 6 July 1947, the ordination of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church.

He worked in Ukraine and as Auxiliary Bishop of Mukachevo eparchy since 1978 secret bishop of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church; episcopal ordination was donated to him on 24 August 1978. In 1983 he was appointed bishop of Mukachevo. In 1991, he was confirmed by Pope John Paul II as Bishop of Mukachevo of the Byzantine Rite, based in Uzhhorod.

His age-related resignation was accepted in 2002 by John Paul II.
