Ãvar Ingimarsson
Ívar Ingimarsson ( born August 20, 1977 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic football player. The center-back and 30 - times capped player is active since 1999 in England and is available at Ipswich Town since 2011 under contract.
Sports career
Ingimarsson first developed at the end of the 1990s in Iceland's Valur Reykjavík at home and later at ÍB Vestmannaeyja one of the most promising talents in the country and tried after 90 league games in October 1999 on loan at English fourth division Torquay United. Just opposite the then leaders FC Barnet on his debut he scored a goal in a 2-1 victory and the one-month test in English football culminated in November 1999 in a permanent position at third division FC Brentford. By the end of the season 2001/ 02 Ingimarsson was an integral part of the interior defense of the " Bees ", played 113 league games for the club and then moved a major league up to the Wolverhampton Wanderers. In the team who succeeded in the 2002/03 season promotion to the Premier League, however, he was only sporadically used, contested the last games of the season from February 2003 on loan to league rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and then moved to October 2003 on the second division FC Reading.
Together with Ibrahima Sonko made the header and combative Ingimarsson henceforth under manager Steve Coppell one of the best central defensive alliances of the Football League Championship. After almost three years Ingimarsson succeeded with the " Royals " the first-time Erstligaaufstieg in club history, which was rewarded in October 2006 and later, in July 2007, each with a new three-year contract. Two years spent Ingimarsson with Reading FC in the Premier League and after another second division season 2008/09, promoted him to the then newly hired coach Brendan Rodgers to the team captain. At the end of the season 2009/10 extended the Reading FC with Ingimarsson, who had by now accumulated over 250 appearances for the club, the contract for another year.

Ingimarsson played between 1998 and 2007 a total of 30 times in the Icelandic national football team.
