Ivar Nørgaard

Ivar Nørgaard ( born July 26, 1922 in Lyngby, † 3 November 2011) was a Danish social democratic politician.

Life

Ivar Nørgaard was from 1966 to 1994 Member of the Folketing and represented the interests of Socialdemokraterne there. There he was 1990 to 1994 Chairman of the European Affairs Committee.

From 1965 to 1968 he was Minister of Economics and at the same time Minister of Affairs of the European market ( 1967 to 1968 ) in the cabinet of Jens Otto Krag. In his second rule, he was from 1971 to 1972 Minister for Foreign Trade, Affairs of the European market and Nordic Affairs.

In the Cabinets of Krags successor Anker Jørgensen, he was from 1972 to 1977 again Minister for Foreign Trade, Affairs of the European market and Nordic Affairs. In this capacity he was in the second half of 1973 and President of the Council of the European Union.

He was then Minister of the Environment (1978 to 1980) and at times also Minister of Economics (1979 to 1982). From 1985 to 1991 Nørgaard was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council.
