Ivo Canelas

Ivo Canelas ( born December 23, 1973 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese actor.

Life

Born on December 23, 1973 in Lisbon, he went at the age of three years with his parents to Texas, where they wrote their theses. After about half a year, he came for health reasons back to Portugal, where he lived with his grandparents until his parents after a year also returned. After leaving school, he went on a scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York, where he lived for four years. Back in Lisbon, he played theater, including 1999 Jorge Silva Melo's production of Bertolt Brecht's A Queda do egoísta Johan Fatzer ( orig.: demise of the Egoist Johann Fatzer ). Also in productions by Solveig Nordlund, Diogo Dória, José Wallenstein among others he stood on the stage. In the 1990s CANELAS began to play in TV series. In particular, the series O Fura- Vidas (German as: " The life plans Destroyer " ), he became known to a wide television audience.

After 1994 with a supporting role in Patrice Chéreau's film collaborated St. Bartholomew's Day, CANELAS began working as a film actor, and became particularly intensified since 2000 in feature film production of the Portuguese film and television on.

CANELAS won several movie awards, including the Globo de Ouro 2009 ( Arte de Roubar, Leonel Vieira ), after he was in 2008 nominated for the award for Call Girl by António - Pedro Vasconcelos, and for O Misterio da Estrada de Sintra from Jorge Paixão da Costa. 2010 CANELAS Award at the Film Festival of the Portuguese film, the Caminhos do Cinema Português in Coimbra, Best Actor, for his role in Desavergonhadamente Real ( Eng.: Shamelessly real, Director: Artur Serra Araújo ). In 2009, he was nominated at the Television Festival in Monaco for his role in the television series Liberdade 21. In 2012 he was also awarded as a stage actor with a Globo de Ouro.

Ivo Canelas applicable in Portugal today as one of the most important actors of his generation, which both acts as an actor in international productions of Portuguese participation when it became known also with leading roles in successful films of the Portuguese cinemas, around 2012 in Vicente Alves do Ós hit movie Florbela, in the CANELAS plays the brother of Florbela Espanca. As a result, he was in Portugal now a prominent actor who attracts the attention of the tabloid press.
