Ivo Neame

Ivo Neame, Michael Beale ( born March 13, 1981 in Kent ) is a British jazz musician ( piano and saxophone).

Life and work

Neame comes from the English family brewery Shepherd Neame. He studied at the King's School in Canterbury and then ( in the same year as the pianist Gwilym Simcock ) jazz saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music in London. His mentors include Martin Speake and Steve Buckley, also the F -IRE Collective founder Barack Schmool. Neame has since worked among others with Guy Barker, Julian Siegel, Stan Sulzmann, Matthew Herbert, Jim Mullen and Tim Garland. With his trio he performed at numerous jazz festivals and clubs like Ronnie Scott 's Jazz Club and the Vortex Jazz Club.

His debut album Swirls and Eddies came out in 2007; contributing musicians were Phil Donkin (bass) and George Hart ( drums). On his second album, Caught in the Light of Day (2009) played Jim Hart ( vibes ), Jasper Høiby (bass) and James Maddren (drums) with. 2010 Neame was involved in Jasper Hoibys Alive album, which was nominated in 2010 by the magazines Jazzwize and Mojo as " Album of the Year ". He leads his own Quartet; He also serves on the London Loop Collective. He took the formations Gemini and Kairos 4tet and with the Andy Davies Quartet, Kaz Simmons, Dave Mannington and Brigitte Beraha on.
