Iyar

Iyar / אייר is the eighth month of the " bourgeois " Jewish calendar and the second month after the " religious " calendar. He always takes 29 days. According to the Gregorian calendar of Iyar begins in mid-April.

All Jewish month names date from the time of the Babylonian exile. In the Tanach the name Iyar is not occupied, the second month there carries the name Siw (1 Kings 6.1 LUT.37LUT ).

The term derives from the Akkadian word ayyaru from, which means " light."
