Izbica, Pomeranian Voivodeship

Izbica ( German Giesebitz ) is a village in the powiat Słupski the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Izbica located in Pomerania, about 35 kilometers northeast of Slupsk ( Stolp ) and 8.5 kilometers northeast of Główczyce ( Glowitz ) away. Through the municipal area of the village flows a broad stream, Rojski called, which opens at Izbica in the Lebasee.

History

The manor Giesebitz was in earlier times a fief of the Stojentin family. The place name Giesebitz has already been used in documents from the year 1518. However, there were other place names in use: Gisbitze ( 1523), Gesebitze ( 1529) and Jesebitz ( 1561). The associated village was created as a small village streets. Around the year 1784 there were in Giesebitz a Vorwerk, and eight pawns. 1925 were on the 1,776 acre community area 111 houses. 1939 lived in Giesebitz 644 people in 150 households.

Before the end of World War II, the village was the seat of the district office in the district Giesebitz Stolp, administrative region of Pomerania, Pomerania.

Towards the end of the Second World War, the village was occupied on March 9, 1945 by the Red Army and soon found it under Polish administration. The houses and farms acquired under Polish expropriation measures of immigrant Poland. The inhabitants were expelled.

295 and 178 displaced from Giesebitz in the GDR villagers were later identified in the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 2008 the village had 299 inhabitants.
