J. F. Ade Ajayi

Jacob Festus Ade Ajayi ( born May 26, 1929 in Ikole - Ekiti Ekiti State of Nigeria today in West Africa) is a Nigerian historian and university professor.

Life

Ajayi is the son of a wizard Yorubawürdenträgers, an Oba, his native city at the time of the colonial administration of the country. There he attended primary school and went through a grant from the local government of Ikole - Ekiti, Lagos, where he attended the College Igbobi to graduation later supported. He then studied at the University of Ibadan, the subject of history. His studies in this subject, he deepened in England at the University of Leicester. On the Historical Research Institute of the London University, he passed his examination as a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his doctorate there in 1957 to 1958.

Ajayi returned in 1964 back to the Historical Institute of the University of Ibadan, where he taught until 1989. He was appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Lagos in 1972, but had to leave this post at the instigation of the then ruling military regime of Olusegun Obasanjo after student riots in 1978. In the years 1984-1988 he was Vice- Chancellor of the Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti.
