J. Schmalz GmbH was founded in 1910 as a razor-blade factory in Smooth Black Forest. Over the years, changed the production program of razor blades on transport equipment and Vacuum components, vacuum handling systems, vacuum gripping systems, and clamping systems.

The company is the global market leader in vacuum clamping technology and a leading supplier of vacuum technology in automation and handling technology and employs around 800 people (as of 2014). Its sales network includes 15 foreign companies in China, Finland, France, India, Italy, Japan, Canada, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey and the USA.

History

1910 Johannes Schmalz founded the " Johannes Schmalz razor-blade factory " in Smooth. The brand " Glattis " was known throughout Germany and with up to 600,000 per month selling razor blades highly successful.

The distribution of the electric shaver required a reorientation. With innovative developments in light - vehicle Artur Schmalz has led since 1948, the company to further success. Developed luggage trailers and mobile stairs for airports of lard were equipped and transport equipment for furniture factories. With the takeover of management by Kurt Schmalz 1984 was the restructuring of the company and specializing in vacuum technology. 1990 Wolfgang Schmalz joined the management of the company. Together the brothers have developed the traditional company into one of the world's leading supplier of vacuum technology.

1998 saw the first office in Switzerland. Today lard has a sales network with 15 offices around the world. 2009, the production area of the company has been expanded to 10,170 square meters. 2013 two other construction projects have been launched: an office building that provides future space for 120 new office workstations as well as for various research and experimental areas, as well as a reception building with spacious areas for clients and guests, as well as a modern canteen for employees.

Products

Vacuum technology from Schmalz is used wherever workpieces moved in the production process must be ergonomically transported or clamped.

Sustainable business

Environmental protection is lard part of the corporate objectives and the daily trade. Ecological aspects are part of product development, in the design of production processes, operational processes and in the energy industry. Renewable energy sources are used, such as solar energy, wood chips, wind and hydropower. Today lard is to produce capable of producing more energy than the company itself needs.
