Geography

Geographical location

The state-approved climatic health resort Smooth is around ten kilometers southeast of the county town of Freudenstadt, nestled between meadows and forests in the northern Black Forest. The site is drained by the eponymous river Glatt. The Old High German waters name " smooth " or "glad " means, inter alia, " clear, bright and clean ."

Community structure

The municipality Smooth includes the formerly independent communities Böffingen and Neuneck. For the former municipality Böffingen include the village and the houses Böffingen Bell Stone and electricity factory. The municipality Smooth within the frontiers of December 31, 1973 include the village Smooth, the homestead Lattenberg and the house forge. For the former municipality Neuneck include the village Neuneck, the hamlet Rinkwasen and the courts Schellenberg and Ziegelacker. In the territory of the former municipality Neuneck is the deserted village Gaisnang from which the Gaisweilerhof remained until he departed in 1632.

The two former municipalities Böffingen and Neuneck are set up as towns within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code, each with its own mayor and Ortschaftsrat as its chairman.

The municipality is bordered to the north by Dornstetten, to the east by Schopf hole and the city Horb, on the south by Dornhan, on the southwest by Lossburg and to the west of Freudenstadt.

History

Smooth was first mentioned in the year 767.

Religions

Since the Reformation, Smooth is dominated Protestant. The Lutheran church with the bell tower from the 12th century is local picture formative. To date, there are no Roman Catholic church in the village. The New Apostolic Church is represented in Smooth.

Structures

In Smooth is a wind power plant, on the run at 100.1 MHz with 1 kW transmitter is installed by Free Radio Freudenstadt.
