J. Terry Steib

James Terry Steib, SVD ( born May 17, 1940 in Vacherie ) is Bishop of Memphis.


James Terry Steib joined the Congregation of the Divine Word Missionaries and received on 6 January 1967, the ordination.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 6 December 1983 as Titular Bishop of Fallaba and Auxiliary Bishop of Saint Louis. The Archbishop of Saint Louis, John Lawrence May, consecrated him on February 10 of next year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were the Auxiliary Bishops George Joseph Gottwald and Charles Roman Koester of Saint Louis.

On 24 March 1993 he was appointed bishop of Memphis.
