Jaakko Paavolainen

Jaakko Paavolainen ( born July 23, 1927 in Kanneljärvi, Viipuri Province, † October 30, 2007 in Helsinki) was a Finnish historian, focusing on the political history. Paavolainen was at the end of the 1970s, a professor of political history at the University of Helsinki and from 1986 to 1989 at the University of Turku. He published several works on the much-discussed mutual violence of the parties of the Finnish Civil War and the national tragedy associated with it. He also wrote a multi-volume biography of Väinö Tanner and a biography of Olavi Paavolainen.
