Jack Davis (playwright)

Jack Davis ( * March 14, 1917 in Yarloop, Western Australia, † March 17 2000 in Fremantle ) was an important Australian playwright and poet. He was himself an aboriginal tribe of the Noongar. Davis stood up for the rights of indigenous people and many of his works dealt with the experiences of Aborigines. He was designated as the excellent Aboriginal poets of the 20th century and many of his dramas are on the curriculum of Australian schools.
