The ruler of Cornwall is an American adventure film directed by Nathan Juran from the year 1962. In Germany he came on May 18, 1962 in the cinemas.

Action

A long time ago was the evil sorcerer Pendragon, Lord of the giants, witches and magical creatures, banished from the country and had to eke out his exile on the island. Full of revenge, he finally returns to the day on which the royal Princess Elaine celebrating her birthday. In disguise he smuggles the giant Cormoran in the chamber of the Princess to kidnap them. That monster can escape with the princess in his claws out of the castle, but is on his way to a boat which tends to bring the princess to Pendragon, at a farm over, which is managed by the young Jack. Jack takes saving one, kills the giant and Elaine can save it; for his earned he is then chosen as the knight and protector of the princess. In order to protect the princess of further attacks, Jack will take them out of the country now, but Pendragon they had kidnapped by witches and bring to his island.

The lexicon of the International film describes this film as " a brightly colored set in scene storybook fairy tale with ample use of animation techniques, the occasional bit too jumpy failed. Overall, undemanding entertainment without recognizable directorial ambition. " The New York Times, however, criticized the " terrible representation "and the" equally bad dialogues ".

Background

Producer Edward Small wanted to connect with this film to the success of the fantasy film Sinbad seventh trip, which was created two years earlier, the realization Small but refused. After the success of Sinbad film Small hired the director Juran and the actors Kerwin Matthews and Torin Thatcher for his production, the animated sequences were also rotated in the stop-motion technique.

Small had new sound to the film later to bring a musical version on the market. For this, the speaking roles were resynchronized with singing.
