Jacob ben Wolf Kranz
Jakob Kranz (Hebrew ) יעקב קרנץ (* 1740 in Zietil, † December 18, 1804 in Zamość ) was a popular Hebrew preacher ( maggid ) and likeness speaker of the 18th century.
Life
At eighteen, he went as preacher for two years after Miedzyrzec Podlaski ( Meseritz ). He then worked in Zolkiev, Dubno, Włodawa ( Lublin ), Kalisch and Zamość. In Dubno in Volhynia he stayed for 18 years. He left the place to go to Vilna. Jacob wreath illustrated his sermons and homiletic comments with parables from human life, and thus explained difficult passages and perplexing questions in rabbinic law.
