Jacob Ettlinger

Jacob Ettlinger ( born March 17, 1798 in Karlsruhe, † December 7, 1871 in Altona ) was a Talmud scholar and strictly Orthodox rabbi who became a teacher of Samson Raphael Hirsch and Hildesheimer Esriel the pioneer of neo-orthodoxy. After his Talmudic commentary, he is also known as Aruch Laner (Hebrew ערוך לנר ).

Life

Jacob Ettlinger Jokew (Hebrew יעקב יוקב בן אהרן אטלינגר ) grew up ( 1769-1849 ) and his wife Rachel born in Karlsruhe Ettlinger, the son of Rabbi Aron Klaus Mayer Ettlinger.
