Jacob Gelt Dekker

Jacob Gelt Dekker ( born April 22, 1948 in Oterleek ) is a Dutch entrepreneur who was restored to parts of Curaçao Otrabanda. His fortune is estimated by rate -500 to 200 million euros.

Curriculum vitae

Dekker was born the son of a Amsterdamers, who married the daughter of a submerged during the Second World War farmers. Dekker went 1961-1967 Alkmaar to school before he studied dentistry in Amsterdam. This became friends with Gerard Spong. After graduating in 1973, he started his own business as a dentist. After him in 1978 thyroid cancer was found, he heard in 1981 to practice as a dentist and his MBA at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and the University of Rochester.

Business

In 1980 he founded the Dutch fitness centers Splash and One Hour Super Photo Photo service chain, which he later sold to Kodak. In 1981 he took over the Holland Car Leasing / Budget Rent a Car franchise and expanded it with his business partner John Padget to a chain of car rentals in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Finland, before he sold in 1995 to UBS.

Other Activities

As of 2000, bought and rented Dekker in Wilemstad on Curaçao parts of the historical district Otrabanda. He created the Kura Hulanda Museum here with an extensive collection relating to the transatlantic slave trade. In 2001 he took over the Hotel Porto Paseo and built it into the five-star Hotel Kura Hulanda. Dekker also took over the Kadushi Cliff Resort on the island and renamed it in Kura Holanda Lodge.
