Jacob, Margrave of Baden-Baden

Margrave James I of Baden ( born March 15, 1407 Hachberg, † October 13, 1453 in Mühlburg ) ruled the Margraviate of Baden from 1431 to 1453.

James I of Baden is the firstborn son of Margrave Bernard I von Baden and Anna von Oettingen. He was known as a very religious and church founders, therefore his children also enjoyed a strict religious upbringing. He founded the monastery Fremersberg and helped the Collegiate Church of Baden -Baden to a higher meaning. In his early years he was steward of the possessions in Hohenberg, until he came to the government of Baden at the age of 24 years.
