Margaret of Baden

Margaret of Baden (* 1431, † October 24, 1457 in Ansbach ) was a Margrave of Baden.

She was the daughter of Margrave James I of Baden and his wife Catherine of Lorraine.

Margaret married in 1446 in Heilsbronn the Elector Albrecht III. of Brandenburg. From the brief marriage three sons and three daughters were born:

  • Ursula (1450-1508)
  • Elisabeth (1451-1524)
  • Margaret (1453-1509), Abbess of Convent Court in 1476
  • John Cicero (1455-1499), Elector of Brandenburg

Her daughters reached, however, generally not the marriageable age. When the daughter Margaretha became engaged after her death with the Count Palatine of Zweibrücken Caspar, this ill and narrowly escaped death. After recovery, the daughter Margaretha was this, with the consent of the father, the monastery courtyard.
