Jacques Bompard

Jacques Bompard ( born February 24, 1943 in Montpellier, Hérault ) is a French nationalist politician and mayor of the city of Orange in the Vaucluse.

Career

Bompard studied at the University of Montpellier and supported by this time the extreme right-wing organization "Organisation de l' armée secrète ", which tried by force to prevent the independence of Algeria from France. Later he became a member of the also quite outside organization Occident. In 1972 he was involved with Jean -Marie Le Pen instrumental in the formation of the National Front. From 1986 to 1988, Jacques Bompard was a deputy of the National Assembly for the department of Vaucluse. Since 1995 he has been mayor of the city of Orange.

The end of 2005 Bompard left the National Front and joined a little later when the right-wing conservative Mouvement pour la France. Jacques Bompard 2010 stepped out of the Mouvement pour la France from whom he accused to close relations with the UMP, and founded the party Ligue du Sud. In 2012 he was re-elected in the parliamentary elections to the National Assembly.
