Jacques Faivre (bishop)

Jacques Maurice Faivre ( born August 11, 1934 in Lyon, † August 13, 2010 ibid ) was Roman Catholic bishop of Le Mans.

Life

Jacques Faivre studied philosophy at the seminary in Francheville and theology at the Catholic University of Lyon. He received on 29 June 1960, the ordination. He was for nine years a priest in Lyon and 15 years, university chaplain in Lyon. From 1984 to 1989 he was pastor of Notre -Dame -Saint -Vincent -et-Saint -Paul in Lyon. 1989 Jacques Faivre was appointed archdeacon of Greater Lyon.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 29 April 1992 as Titular Bishop of San Leone and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Archdiocese of Lyon -Vienne. The Archbishop of Lyon, Cardinal Albert Decourtray, donated to him on 14 June of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Hubert Barbier, Bishop of Annecy, and Claude Feidt, Bishop of Chambery. He was also vicar general of Lyon.

On 29 July 1997 he was appointed John Paul II appointed Bishop of Le Mans. His resignation for health reasons was by Pope Benedict XVI. granted on 3 July 2008.

Bishop Jacques Faivre died on August 13, 2010 in his hometown of Lyon during a heart attack. His final resting place he found in the cathedral of Lyon.
