Jahant AVA

Jahant AVA ( recognized since July 17, 2006) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area extends over the two administrative areas of San Joaquin County and a small portion of Sacramento County. The protected designation of origin is the smallest sub-zone of the parent Lodi AVA. Unique feature of the zone is the almost pink Rocklin Jahant clay soil. Through the nearby Mokelumne River and the river delta of the Sacramento River, the climate is slightly cooler than in the surrounding area and the soil is well drained.
