The Centennial Hall is a great concert and congress hall in Frankfurt am Main.

Mid-1950s was the architect Friedrich Wilhelm Kraemer commissioned a hall on the occasion of the centenary of the Hoechst AG to plan. After 17 months of construction, it was opened on 11 January 1963.

Name

The official name of the hall was Centennial Hall Hoechst ( by the company ). It is still known as common ( after the district ) " Centennial Hall High ," although it is actually in the district Unterliederbach and in the district Sindlingen. Appearance

The freestanding hall can also be seen from afar despite their low height. This is due to the unusual design of the 1960s. The hall consists of a rectangular base, in the foyer and the smaller rooms and the restaurant are housed. Furthermore, a dome with a diameter of 100 m clamped on. It offers visitors the domed hall unique acoustics, which is made possible through the blades ceiling of the dome. Concerts

In the hall for many concerts were held. The first concert was a Violin Concerto by Yehudi Menuhin. After that, among other things, Janis Joplin's only concert in Germany followed in 1969, was responsible for the local organization of the organizers pioneer Fritz Rau, who also Jethro Tull did occur on February 21, 1970 there.
