Jai Opetaia

Jai Tapu Opetaia (born 30 June 1995 Westmead, New South Wales) is an Australian amateur boxer in the heavyweight division.

Career

He began at the age of eight years with boxing, is about 1,82 m tall and trained in Wyongah, north of Sydney. It was 2009 Australian Masters students, 2010 Australian National Golden Gloves champion and 2011 Australian Junior Champion. In addition, he won the Junior World Championships in Astana, where he was able to prevail against the starter from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Russia and Germany in July 2011.

In 2012 he won the Australian Championships in the elite class (adults), as well as the oceanic Youth and Junior Championships in Papeete and the Oceania Olympic qualification in Canberra at the age of only 16 years. He then became the youngest boxer (17 years, 33 days) at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London in part, subject to there, however, in the second round with just 11:12 against Teymur Məmmədov. In November of the same year, he also won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Yerevan.

In 2013 he again won the Australian Championships and also the Vllaznia tournament in Albania.
