Services

Jaime Collyer is one of the leaders of the " nueva narrativa chilena ", a vaguely defined literary movement of Chilean literature of the 1990s. 1992 served its polemical article " casus belli " in the magazine APSI as one of the few manifestos of not institutionally organized young generation of writers.

Collyer importance as a writer is based primarily on his short stories, in the tradition of the great Latin American storytellers, the thematic and narratological - va Jorge Luis Borges - are. What is striking is the effort to leave the limited horizon of Chile and to avoid a " regionalist " notation. The novels Collyer are much more controversial. 1995 caused " Cien pájaros volando " a minor scandal, as it was played here too clearly with the issue of sodomy.
