Jakub Wierzchowski

Jakub Wierzchowski ( born April 15, 1977 in Lublin, Poland ) is a Polish footballer.

Club career

Jakub Wierzchowski began his career in his native city of Lublin in Lublin Lublinianka. In 1996 he moved to Górnik Łęczna and 1998 continue to Wisła Kraków. He debuted in 1998 in the Ektraklasa. However, he lost the Association's internal duel against Artur Sarnat and was sold to Ruch Chorzów. Here he became the first-choice goalkeeper. In 2001 he moved to Bundesliga Werder Bremen. In two seasons at Werder Bremen, he came along only three Bundesliga games. In 2003 he returned to Poland and signed a contract with Wisła Płock. He played three seasons long, bringing with Płock 2006 Polish Cup. After two short walks in Zagłębie Sosnowiec and Polonia Bytom and an intermediate half-year Vereinslosigkeit, he moved in 2008 to his former club Gornik Łęczna in the second Polish league. Here he was first-choice goalkeeper again. In the season 2010/11 he was but for Auswechseltorwart degraded even at Górnik Łęczna. At the age of 34 years, Wierzchowski his club Gornik Łęczna decided to be available during the summer break in 2011 as goalkeeping coach and standby professional.

National

He played a total of two times for the Polish national football team. He made his debut on 15 November 2000 in a friendly match in Warsaw against Iceland (1-0 ). His second and last match Wierzchowski completed on 10 February 2002 in Limassol against the Faroe Islands ( 2-1 ).
