Jákup Pauli Gregoriussen

Jákup Pauli Gregoriussen ( born April 24, 1932 in Tórshavn / Faroe Islands ) is the leading architect in the Faroe Islands. At the same time he is a graphic designer and author of the Faroese churches.

Jákup Pauli in 1932, the son of fashion designer Liffa Gregoriussen (born Argentina ), and the sailor Magnus Gregoriussen born. He was trained at the School of Architecture of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Copenhagen.

Among his best known works, the art gallery Listaskáli (1970 ) counts and their extension to the National Art Museum in 1993. As an artist, he not only has a number stamps for the Postverk Føroya designed, but also illustrated books. His main subjects are urban and village views, not only of the Faroe Islands, but also from his travels, including Russia, Poland, Rome and Egypt.

For his four -volume work on the churches of the Faroe Islands (1995-1999), he received the 1998 Faroese Literature Prize (MA Jacobsen Heiðursløn ). It is his masterpiece bibliophiles, luxuriously illustrated and at the same time a book about the history of the Church of the Faroe Islands and the history of the Faroe Islands in a nutshell. Gregoriussen is also relevant consultant in the restoration Faroese churches.
