Jalu Kurek

Yalu Kurek, actually Franciszek Kurek (* February 2, 1904, † November 10, 1983 in Rabka ) was a Polish writer and representative of the Krakow avant-garde.

Graduate of the Department of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow ( Polish Philology and Romance ), he deepened his studies at the University of Naples. - He was a longtime friend of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti.

Strongly connected he was with his family of origin of the Beskids (his mother came from the village Naprawa, community Jordanów, powiat Suski ) and wrote a lot. He had with the flu rages in Naprawa, Polish: The greatest successes: grypa szaleje w Naprawie (1934 ) and Woda wyżej, dt as: The water is rising (1935 ).

He was a versatile writer of poetry, short stories and novels. For many years he worked as a journalist and editor, remained left of it are his stories, feature articles, essays, and other products. He is the author of many translations of Italian poetry (including sonnets to Laura of Petrarch ). As a translator from Italian, he contributed to the popularization of the works of the Italian Futurists in Poland. He was also involved in theater and film. He painted, hiked in the mountains - was Mountaineers - Sports and operation.
