James Allen (author)

James Allen ( born November 28, 1864 in Leicester, England, † 1912) was one of the first authors of books on personal development and motivation as well as one of the best-known authors within the New Thought movement.

Life

Allen experienced at the age of 15 years, as his father was ambushed and killed. He was then forced to leave school and work to support his family. Later he brought it to the Director of a company. At 38, he retired from the working world to follow his idol Leo Tolstoy and to spend all his time only by letter. James Allen died in 1912 at the age of 47 years in England.

Publications

During his time as an author, he wrote mainly books to explain the power of thought to our lives and motivate us. His most famous work is As A Man Thinketh. It is a classic book on the proper conduct of life.
