James Dillion

Leo James "Jim" Dillion ( born 2 May 1929 in Plain City, Ohio; † 16 September 2010 in Arlington, Texas) was an American discus thrower.

Dillion attended Auburn University and 1951 NCAA champion in the discus throw. The following year he won the championship of the Amateur Athletic Union and qualified as a third of the U.S. knockouts for participation in the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. There, he won with a width of 53.28 m the Bronze medal behind compatriot Sim Iness ( 55.03 m) and the Italian Adolfo Consolini ( 53.78 m).

James Dillion was 1.88 m tall and had a competition weight of 99 kg. In the discus throw, he scored his best jump in 1954 with 55.07 m, in the shot put in 1952 with 16,11 m. After the end of his athletic career, he worked as an aircraft mechanic.
