James Douglas, 2nd Marquess of Douglas
James Douglas ( * 1646, † February 25, 1700 in Douglas, South Lanarkshire ) was a Scottish nobleman.
Life
Douglas was a son of Archibald Douglas, 1st Earl of Ormonde, and his first wife Anna Stewart. He succeeded his grandfather William 1660 Marquess of Douglas. He also held the office of Scottish Privy Counsellor.
Progeny
James was married twice. He married first to Barbara († 1690), daughter of John Erskine, 20th Earl of Mar, by whom he had one son:
- James (1671-1692), Earl of Angus
His second wife, he married Mary ( † 1736), daughter of Robert Kerr, 1st Marquess of Lothian, with her he had three children:
- William (1693-1694), Earl of Angus
- Archibald (1694-1761), 1st Duke of Douglas, 3rd Marquess of Douglas
- Jane (1698-1753), married Sir John Stewart of Grand Tully, 3rd Baronet
