James Erskine, 14th Earl of Mar

James Thorne Erskine, 14th Earl of Mar, 16th Earl of Kellie ( born March 10, 1949) is a British nobleman, Deputy Lieutenant of Clackmannanshire and politician of the Liberal Democrats.

Life

His parents are John Francis Hervey Erskine, 13th Earl of Mar and Pansy Constance Thorne. He attended Eton College, Queen Elizabeth II served in 1962 and 1963 as honorary Page and worked 1967 and 1968 in the voluntary community service in York. He attended both the Moray House School of Education in Edinburgh and Inverness College. In his professional career he worked as a social worker in various Scottish churches and local authorities. At the same time he served in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, where in 1979 the rank of Pilot Officer and between 1982 and 1986 the rank of Flying Officer held. Between 1989 and 1991 he worked as a construction engineer.

In 1991 he was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Clackmannanshire. The paternal title he inherited in 1993 and decreased in 1994 for the Liberal Democrats a seat in the House of Lords. As the 16th Viscount Fentoun he is also the first Viscount of Scotland. He is Chief of Name and Arms of the Clan Erskine. In 1999 he was the candidate of the Liberal Democrats for the Scottish Parliament for the constituency Ochil. After the House of Lords Act 1999, he lost his seat in the House of Lords first. Family

James Thorne Erskine married on March 23, 1974 Mary Kirk, daughter of Dougal McDougal Kirk. They have no children and live in Hilton Farm, in Clackmannanshire, Scotland.
