James Knox Polk Hall

James Knox Polk Hall ( born September 30, 1844 in Milesburg, Centre County, Pennsylvania, † January 5, 1915 in Tampa, Florida ) was an American politician. Between 1899 and 1903 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Hall attended schools in Pittsburgh. After a subsequent law degree in 1866 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. From 1867 to 1876 he was district attorney in Elk County. By 1883, he practiced as a lawyer yet. Then he gave up that profession to work in the coal business, the timber industry and the railways. He was also active in the banking industry. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1898 Hall was the 28th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican William Carlile Arnold on March 4, 1899. After a re-election he was able to complete until his resignation on November 29, 1902 almost two terms in Congress. Between 1902 and 1914, Hall was a member of the Senate of Pennsylvania. He died on January 5, 1915 in Tampa, and was buried in Ridgway.
