James Murphy (electronic musician)

James Murphy ( born February 4, 1970) is an American music producer, singer-songwriter and DJ. He became famous mainly through his solo project LCD Soundsystem.


Murphy grew up in New Jersey in Princeton Junction. After his studies he was offered a job as a writer for the sitcom "Seinfeld" in, but he refused because he did not see as a successful show. Once a member of various bands he was in the mid -1990s and worked as a sound engineer in New York, he met in 1999 on the English DJ and producer Tim Goldsworthy ( UNKLE ), with whom he founded the label DFA Records shortly thereafter. He eventually became known as LCD Soundsystem Losing My Edge with the Single to a wider audience in 2002. After the release of LCD Soundsystem Sound Of Silver in 2005 and in 2007 Murphy was around the time the third studio album, This Is Happening In 2010, the resolution of LCD Soundsystem known.

In the following years he worked with the Gorillaz, André 3000, and Arcade Fire together.
