James Tabor

James D. Tabor ( born March 2, 1946) is an American biblical scholar.

Career

Tabor is of German origin.

After various teaching positions at other universities in the United States he has taught since 1989 at the Religious Studies Department of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He has Doctorate degree in 1982 at the University of Chicago in the subject "New Testament and Early Christian Literature". Since then, his studies focus on the historical Jesus and ancient Judaism. In this field he is also author of several, sometimes violently controversial works such as The Jesus Dynasty.
