James Watt International Medal

The James Watt Medal ( engl. James Watt International Gold Medal ) is an award that (Institution of Mechanical Engineers - IMechE ) of the British Institution of Mechanical Engineers is awarded every two years for outstanding contributions in the field of mechanical engineering. It is named after the engineer and inventor James Watt and in 1936 donated the occasion of his 200th birthday. The award is loud IMechE " the highest that can be awarded, the institution and the highest that can achieve a mechanical engineer ."

The award is international; proposal entitled are engineering associations from around the world. The medal is considered some as the "Nobel Prize in Mechanical Engineering".

A likewise named after James Watt, but less well-known medal is awarded by the British Institution of Civil Engineers ( Institution of Civil Engineers).
