Jameson Irish Whiskey

Jameson is an Irish whiskey brand. The distillery of the same name was founded by John Jameson in 1780 in Dublin and until 1971 was in the Bow Street ( Smithfield Village ), distilled. History

After a crisis of Irish whiskey sales in the U.S. ( Prohibition ) and the UK ( high import tariffs after Irish independence ) joined in 1966, Jameson Irish Whiskey with the last remaining distilleries of the Republic of Ireland, namely Power's and Cork Distilleries, the Irish Distillers Group together. Opened in 1975, this group in Midleton, Cork, a technically located to-date distillery, which can be visited. Since 1988, the Irish Distillers Limited belongs to the French Pernod Ricard Group. As the well-known Whisk (e) ykenner and reviewer Jim Murray indicates in his book Classic Irish whiskey, Jameson held in the late 1990s about 75 percent of the total sales of Irish whiskey worldwide. In 2012, the total sales was 36 million liters.

Production

Jameson Whiskey is produced from a mixture of malted and unmalted barley. The drying of the malted barley is done as opposed to Scotch whiskey in closed Darren without smoke gets to the malt. It made ​​3 firings. The subsequent storage takes place in oak casks from Spain, Portugal and the United States, where previously sherry, port or bourbon matured.
