Jämsä sub-region

The administrative community Jämsa (Finnish Jämsän seutukunta ) is one of six administrative Communities ( seutukunta ) in the Finnish countryside of central Finland. The region is covered by many large forest areas, one of the main economic factors is the paper industry.

On 1 January 2007 the municipality Längelmäki was divided into the cities Jämsä and Orivesi, causing a change in the boundaries of the administrative community.

2004, before the division of Längelmäki, 27,347 people lived in the region, the population number for years decreases (1990: 29 433; 1980: 30 094 ).
