Jan Kryštof Liška

Johann Christoph Lischka ( czech January Kristof Liska; * 1650 in Breslau, † August 23 1712 in Leubus in Silesia ) was a painter of the Baroque.

Life

About Johann Christoph Lischka's year of birth, there is conflicting information. He came from the Moravian aristocratic family of rotting wood. His father was an Austrian imperial court agent in Wroclaw, but died soon. Lischka's mother, Helena Regina 's second marriage was in 1662 the painter Michael Willmann. Lischka was a pupil of his stepfather and took his promotion 1674-1680 study trips to Italy. Between 1689 and 1708 he worked in Prague and other places in Bohemia, where he was referred to as the " young Willmann ". After Will 's death in 1706 he took over the workshop in Leubus monastery. His clients were mostly Cistercian monasteries and other religious institutions. In addition to numerous large altarpieces and murals he also produced drawings as models for engravings. After Lischka's death, his friend Wenzel Lorenz Reiner completed several works begun by him.
