Jan Lechoń

Leszek Józef Serafinowicz, known under the pseudonym January Lechoń, ( born June 13, 1899 in Warsaw, † June 8, 1956 in New York) was a Polish writer.

Lechoń studied from 1916 to 1918 Polish Studies in Warsaw and in 1919 was involved in the founding of the Scamander - poet group. In 1931 he was cultural attaché to France and emigrated in 1940 to the United States, where he committed suicide in 1956. He was closely associated with the Romantic poetry. In his pessimistic attitude dominated subjects such as love and death, he also wrote about the history of his homeland.
