Jan Poštulka

January Poštulka ( born March 9, 1949) is a former Czech football player and current football coach.

Playing career

Poštulka played from 1971 to 1978 for Sparta Prague, followed by two years for Inter Bratislava. In 1980, the goalkeeper for FC Bohemians Prague. In the season 1981/82 Poštulka was loaned to second division VAGONKA Ceska Lipa. After the 1982/83 season in which he won the Czechoslovak Cup with Bohemians, he ended his active career.

Coaching career

1983 Poštulka was assistant coach at FC Bohemians Prague. In 1990, he took office on SCP Spartak Hradec Králové, left the club but after half a year. From 1991 to 1993 Poštulka coached kosta Rican club LD Alajuelense, with whom he was national champion in 1992 and reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. After his return to the Czech Republic Poštulka was head coach at Terrex Kladno and SK Český Brod. He was assistant coach at Sparta Prague in 1996 and remained there two years. In the 1998/99 season he again went to Central America, this time to CSD Municipal of Guatemala City. From 2000 to 2004 Poštulka worked as an assistant coach at FK Teplice. In the spring of 2005 he was an assistant with SK Dynamo České Budějovice, 2005/06 he was responsible for the B- team of SK Dynamo in the 3rd league. Since 2007 January Poštulka trained the Armenian club FC Bananz Yerevan, with whom he won the national cup competition in its first year.

  • In 2001 he got from the Czech Olympic Committee the Fair Play Award for which he had saved the lives of three people in the course of his life.
