Jan Svěrák

January Svěrák ( born February 6, 1965 in Žatec, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech film director, actor and screenwriter.

January Svěrák is considered the most successful Czech film director since the Velvet Revolution in 1989. He is the son of Czech screenwriter and actor Zdeněk Svěrák. His films have won several internationally recognized film awards. 1989, his film was awarded the oil -eater with the Student Academy Award Honorary Foreign Student Film Award. 1992, his film was nominated Elementary school for the Oscar in the category Best Foreign Language Film. 1997, his film Kolya won the Oscar in the same category.
