Jan van Dornicke

Jan van Dornicke (* 1475 in Tournai, † 1527 probably in Antwerp) was a Flemish painter of the Antwerp Mannerism.

Life

Jan van Dornicke has been active in the period from 1509 until his death in Antwerp. This is evidenced by the persons employed by agents. His most famous companion and son Pieter Coecke van Aelst occurred at 1522/23 in the workshop, which produced Antwerp altarpiece for export also in serial production, and took over the workshop of van Dornicke about 1525.

Since 1966, Georges Marlier first presented this thesis is discussed in art history degree to which the painter Jan Mertens and the Notnamen champion of 1518, attributed work relates to one and the same person.
