Jan Verkolje

John Verkolje ( born February 9, 1650 in Amsterdam, † before May 8, 1693 in Delft ) was a Dutch painter.

Verkolje was a pupil of Jan Lievens ( 1607-1674 ). He has portraits, mythological and moral painted pictures, of which the society playing ( in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam ) and The Temptation ( in the Dresden Gallery ) are the most prominent.

His son and pupil Nikolaes Verkolje (* 1673 in Delft, † 1746 in Amsterdam ) also has mythological and genre scenes in the style of Gabriel Metsu painted.
