Janet's Foss

Janet's Foss is a small waterfall near the British town Malham, North Yorkshire.

By the waterfall in the creek Gordale Beck, a tributary of the Aire flows into a larger pool. In this basin sheep were washed before shearing the end of June in the past to clean the wool and to stimulate growth. In addition, the small rocky plateau was used at the waterfall for parties.

The name Janet (sometimes: Jennet ) refers to a fairy queen who believe, according to the folk who lived nearby. Foss is a Nordic word for " waterfall ", which is still in use in Scandinavia and in other English waterfalls form the force has.
