Janeway lesion

Janeway lesions are small erythematous or haemorrhagic spots or nodules on the palms or soles.

They have a minor criterion of Duke criteria point to an infective (bacterial ) endocarditis. Most of the germ underlying is a Staphylococcus. Their pathogenesis is likely due to bacterial micro- emboli.

The Janeway lesion is named after Theodore Caldwell Janeway ( 1872-1917 ). Janeway was a professor of internal medicine and mainly in the field of cardiology and infectious diseases active.

Very similar are Osler 's nodes, the difference is that they are painful to pressure and rather lie on the Finger-/Zehenende.
