Janice Riggle Huie

Janice Riggle Huie (* December 15, 1946 ) is a bishop of the United Methodist Church.

Life

After her schooling Huie graduated from the University of Texas. She then moved to the Perkins School of Theology, where she studied theology and reached the master. In 1989 she received her PhD as Doctor of Divinity at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. After her studies she worked as a pastor in Texas. It was dedicated to the Bishop of the Annual Conference of Arkansas in 1996, where she worked until 2004. Since 2004 she is a bishop in the Texas Annual Conference. By 2008, Huie was President of the Council of Bishops of the United Methodist Church. Her successor is since 2008 the Bishop Greg Palmer.

Huie is married to Robert Huie and has two children.
