Jānis Pauļuks

Jānis Pauļuks (born 12 Novemberjul / November 24 1865greg in Lielsesava in Jelgava, .. † June 21, 1937 in Bauska ) Latvian politician and Prime Minister of the party Farmers' Union of Latvia was ( Latvijas Zemnieku Savieniba ).

Life

Pauļuks was appointed by Prime Minister Zigfrīds Anna Meierovics to the Minister of Transport on 19 June 1921. On January 27, 1923, he was appointed as the successor of Meierovics prime minister. At the same time he took over the offices of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Transport. However, the Office of the Prime Minister, he held only a few months until 27 June 1923 and was in turn succeeded by Meierovics.

Meierovics then called him again to the Minister of Transport. This post he held also in the subsequent governments of Voldemars Zāmuels and Hugo Celmins to 23 December 1925.

In 1934 he was awarded along with Karlis Ulmanis of the University of Latvia an honorary doctorate.
