Janko Prunk

Janko pomp ( audio? / I ) ( born December 30, 1942 in Loka at Zidani most, Yugoslavia, now Slovenia) is a Slovenian historian and politician.

Splendor was born near Sevnica in Central Slovenia. He studied history and sociology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, graduated in 1966, reached the master's degree in 1972 and his doctorate in 1976 with a thesis on the relationship between the Slovenian Christian Socialist movement and the Communist Party of Slovenia within the Osvobodilna frontal, which was very controversial.

He completed his studies in 1969 at the University of Leipzig and the Institute of European History, was a visiting professor at the universities of Freiburg and Cologne.

Today pomp is professor of modern history and the history of political ideas at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana.

Pomp wrote, among other texts on analytical political science, modern history, the emergence of modern political movements and the history of social and political views in Slovenia. He also wrote about the history of Slovene political movements of the late 19th century to the Second World War, with special consideration of the Slovenian Christian socialism.

He is a member of the Institute of European History, Mainz and Senior Fellow of the Center for European Integration Studies, Bonn.

Pageantry was also active politically active. As an early admirer of Jože Pučnik he joined after the democratization of the Slovenian Social Democratic Union. He was an active member of the Slovenian Democratic Party and served until 2008 as chairman of the committee for education issues when he resigned because of disagreements. He was then strong critic of Prime Minister Janez Janša, whom he accused of a " liberal with authoritarian Touch", which strive for wanting to be a " Józef Piłsudski Slovenian ".

From 1992 to 1993 he was Minister without Portfolio for Slovenians abroad and ethnic minorities in Slovenia in the center -left government Janez Drnovsek. He was appointed Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, Chairman of the Slovenian-Croatian History Commission in 2005, which was launched by the governments of both countries to illuminate the history of their relations to life.
