Janos Galambos

János Galambos ( born September 1, 1940 in Zirc, Hungary) is a Hungarian mathematician who works mainly in the field of probability theory and mathematical statistics.

Life and work

János Galambos studied from 1958 to 1963 mathematics at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. In 1963 he received his degree as master and doctorate was in Alfréd Rényi in the same year.

From 1964 to 1965 he worked as a research assistant at the Eotvos Lorand University. From 1965 to 1969 he was a lecturer at the University of Ghana and from 1969 to 1970 at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. Since 1970 he is a professor at Temple University in Philadelphia.
